Web and Workflow

Web and Workflow is the integration of web applications and backend processing workflow applications that provide for business relationships and transactions to be maintained on an open platform such as an Internet Web Site.

The primary objective of a web and workflow system is to integrate the communication, documentation and resources involved in a business transaction into a congruent picture that provides access to all parties involved in a given enterprise with scopes that are appropriate to their position with that organization.

This involves, transaction documentation images that support line transaction items, data consumption requirements of customers, business partners and relevant internal resources and bookend requirements for management and executives that montitor the overall process.

From a systems perspective, this involves, Web Interfaces, Workflow Applications, Maintenance Applications and Analysis Interfaces.

The web interface must be aware of the relationship the user has in the system as either consumer customer, contributive vendor or third party, resource employee or management and in cases where relationships are more specific provide for combinations of these capabilities such as consultant and legal.

Workflow Applications are applications which process information into the overall system in support of the requirements of the Web Interface. This includes transaction injection, consumer (customer) information, product and service information as well as supportive media such as document images and/or other media.

Maintenance applications are those applications which support the management of the web and workflow system as a whole by duplicating the functionality of the Web Interfaces and employing additional interfaces for add hoc processing of important batch processing steps such as Account Billing, Data Archival, Batch Communications and other items where not otherwise triggered or automated. This also includes tasks in support of definition (new relationships if not automated), information changes (contact information) and information communication such as new events and announcements (news, events, employment positions) and reporting elements required to identify the areas of use, access statistics, missing informaton and other policy monitoring aspect of the system to ensure that the data consumer is being serviced appropriately.

The Analysis Interface component provides a high level view of the activities of the overall workings of the system and changes based upon the transaction content being fed into the system and the Web Interface activities that occur within system, much like the dashboard of a car.
